Check out our farmland, greenhouses, and animals. Even during the chilly month of February, our greenhouse is reaching temperatures in the 70's and 80's in the sunny afternoons. Three of five greenhouses are up, with two more in the works just as soon as weather permits. We are currently hiring for the 2008 growing season, so stop by or click here for more information. Passive solar heat is warming the soil in these two greenhouses. Unheated, these two houses will be planted with transplants at winter's end. They are part of our four season growing system.
Farmer Mike Bollinger shows off micro-greens being grown inside the heated greenhouse. A heater keeps the house at 60 degrees overnight, but temperatures can rocket into the 80's during a sunny sub-zero simply from the sunlight.
The micro-greens can be found on the plates of area restaurants, such as Niche (on 3rd St. in Geneva). Grown to a height of an inch or so, the micro-greens add a splash of color, flavor and local freshness. Our special HPM micro-green blend can also be purchased in our store to add to your own salads and entrees.
