Seasonal shopping year round
As we enter into spring, our farmers are busy replanting for the 2009 growing season. While we wait for lettuces and carrots to grow again, we still offer our petite and micro greens, as well as pea shoots for a tasty addition to your salads, soups and sandwiches. As always, we feature eggs and meats from Burgin Farms and Gloria's Gourmet Meats.
From the HPM Kitchen
Look in the freezer for quick and local dinner ideas like a pizza or soup. Choose from a ready to heat pizza or just the crust, and then build your own. Serve soup and salad using our winter greens and a frozen HPM soup like Super Tasty Turnip soup, Tuscan lentil or Homemade chili. For dessert , you just might enjoy fresh baked cookies in flavors like sugar cookies or gingersnaps. Our kitchen uses the same ingredients we sell in our store- produce from our fields and other local farms, organic flours and dairy, and often eggs from our chickens!

Seed Savers Exchange is a non-profit seed organization that saves and shares the heirloom seeds of our garden heritage, forming a living legacy that can be passed down through generations. Seed Savers is located in Decorah, Iowa on an 890 acres living museum of historic varieties. Each summer, 10% of each crop is planted on a 10 year rotation to renew the seed collection.
From just over the Wisconsin border in Burlington, River Valley Kitchens bring us the finest in salsas, sauces, bruschettas, and pickled mushrooms using mushrooms grown on the family farm. The River Valley farm began in 1976, and currently grows crimini, button, shitake, and portabella mushrooms without the use any of pesticides.
Crystal Ball Dairy is the finest milk we could find around. Produced on a family owned organic farm from a herd of 100 Holsteins in Osceola Wisconsin, Crystal Ball is non-homogenized, grass-fed, and organic. Shake the glass bottle well before drinking!
Tomato Mountain salsas, preserves and tomato soup are on the shelves. We were delighted to find Tomato Mountain at the Chicago City Green Market, and bring back their goodies to offer at our market. The sungold tomato preserves are an incredibly unique and tasty product, as a meat glaze or on toast.
